JMFC Eligibility

A) For New Law Graduates/ Freshers

1) Age Criteria Minimum

  • Open/ Reserved - 21 Years
  • Maximum Open - 25 Years, Reserved - 30 Years

2) The degree in law should be obtained by passing each year in the first attempt AND at least 55% marks should be obtained in the final year of the LLB o rLLM

B) For Lawyers, Attorneys & Advocates

1) Age Criteria

  • Minimum Open/ Reserved - 21 Years
  • Maximum Open - 35 Years, Reserved - 40 Years

2) Degree in Law 

3) Experience - Three Years of Legal Practice as a Lawyer, Attorney or Advocates in the Bombay High Court or in a subordinate Courts

C) Ministerial Staff

1) Age Criteria

  • Minimum Open/ Reserved - 21 Years
  • Maximum Open - 45 Years, Reserved - 50 Years

2) Educational Degree in Law

3) Experience - At least 3 years of service on the date mentioned in the advertisement / notification, after law graduation.

                      

Stages of examination for the position of Maharashtra Judicial Service officer/ judge

The Maharashtra Judicial Service examination is conducted in three stages, namely:

  • Preliminary Examination (100 marks)
  • Mains Examination (200 marks)
  • Interview (50 marks)
                    

Appointment

Civil Judge, Junior Division (CJJD) and Judicial Magistrate, First Class (JMFC) is the post in the Judicial Service of Maharashtra State. These posts are filled through the examination conducted by MPSC under the direction of Bombay High Court as per the Maharashtra Judicial Service Rules, 2008 and thereafter as amended by the High Court from time to time.
